Frequently asked questions

Are these calculators financial advice?

No. They show estimates based on the figures you enter so you can compare options. For personal advice, speak to a regulated financial adviser.

What is the difference between markup and margin?

Markup is profit as a share of cost. Margin is profit as a share of the selling price. A 50% markup gives a 33.3% margin, which is why the two calculators sit side by side.

How does compound interest work?

Interest is added to your balance, so the next round of interest is paid on a larger amount. The compound interest calculator shows the effect year by year.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Every tool is free, needs no account and works on phones, tablets and computers.
