Frequently asked questions
Are these salary calculators updated for 2026/27?
Yes. Tools that use tax, National Insurance, student loan thresholds or statutory pay rates use the figures for the 2026/27 tax year and are reviewed when the government announces changes.
What is the difference between gross and take-home pay?
Gross pay is what you earn before deductions. Take-home pay is what reaches your bank after Income Tax, National Insurance, pension contributions and any student loan repayments.
How is pro rata salary worked out?
Divide the full-time salary by the full-time hours and multiply by the hours you work. The pro rata calculator does this for hours or days and shows the monthly figure too.
Can I rely on these figures for an employment dispute?
Use them as a guide. For a dispute, check your contract and speak to Acas or a qualified adviser before you act.
