What Is Statutory Redundancy Pay?

Statutory redundancy pay is the legal minimum an employee gets when their job ends because of redundancy. You need at least 2 years of continuous service with your employer to qualify. Many employers pay an enhanced amount on top, but they cannot pay less than the statutory figure.

The formula counts back from your most recent full year of service, up to 20 years. You get half a week's pay for each full year you were under 22, one week's pay for each year aged 22 to 40, and one and a half weeks' pay for each year aged 41 or over. Weekly pay is capped at £751 in Great Britain, so the most anyone can get is £22,530.
